Denise Laws

Born and raised in San Francisco, Denise Laws creates mixed media contemporary collage artwork and assemblages, incorporating rescued/upcycled foil-lined food and beverage packing and labels. She was the recipient of The San Francisco Art Institute Merit Scholarship, and her work is in the 2001 issue of Zyzzyva, a San Francisco Journal of Arts and Literature. Laws received her BFA in the Interdisciplinary Department at the San Francisco Art Institute, and her final graduating artwork was published in the 2001-2002 San Francisco Art Institute BFA Catalog. ArtSpan awarded her the Art Studio Residency from 2016 until 2019. The “Artificial Quarry” image is in San Francisco, Root Division’s MFA Never 2016 archive book project. In 2017, she was nominated for The Fleishhacker Foundation Eureka Fellowship Grant. In 2018, she participated in the Art Festivals, KAABOO in Del Mar, California, and StART-Up Fair in San Francisco. She was one of Twenty artists chosen to participate in The Ladies Room, Curated by Danielle Krysa, The Jealous Curator, presented by Jen Tough Gallery in San Francisco. Most recently, in June 2024, a commissioned art piece is on permanent view at SFO, The Harvey Milk Terminal One, located in The Club SFO.
